This funding opportunity encourages development of next-generation brain stimulation devices to treat mental health disorders. It supports novel devices moving beyond electrical/magnetic stimulation and significant hardware/software enhancements to FDA-cleared devices. Focus areas include increased spatial resolution, depth of delivery, and precision, with multi-focal and closed-loop approaches. Incremental software updates are excluded. Applications must come from multi-disciplinary teams with neuroscience, engineering, clinical, and regulatory expertise.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of government entities, nonprofits, small businesses, for-profit organizations, educational institutions, tribal organizations, and other specified groups including federal agencies and non-U.S. entities.
