The FAIROS Program supports transformative open science activities including research, education, and cyberinfrastructure development to advance sustainable FAIR research data management and open science capabilities. It funds projects piloting new scientific communication models, developing data portals and research data commons, and lowering barriers to data access and management across disciplines. Proposals must focus on either disciplinary or cross-cutting improvements and submit standard research proposals aligned with the NSF Public Access Initiative.
Eligibility includes others with clarifications in the additional information section. Prospective PIs are encouraged to contact program officers to confirm appropriateness of scientific focus and budget.
