This grant supports research aimed at enhancing occupational safety for commercial fishing workers. Funded activities include improving vessel design, emergency and survival equipment, vessel monitoring systems, communication devices, de-icing technology, and severe weather detection. Research objectives also cover hazard identification, development of protective equipment, evaluation of safety procedures, and promoting adoption of improved safety practices.
