This award supports early career scientists from low- and middle-income countries holding junior faculty positions to conduct mentored health-related research projects aligned with their country's priorities. It provides protected time and research support for three to five years, excluding leadership of independent clinical trials. The program aims to foster independent research careers at LMIC institutions or other LMICs under mentorship from LMIC and U.S. experts.
Eligible applicants are early career researchers at academic or research institutions in low- or middle-income countries as defined by the World Bank. Only non-U.S. foreign institutions in eligible countries may apply; U.S. organizations and their foreign components are not eligible.
