Supports NIH-funded investigator groups to acquire or upgrade a single high-priced, specialized, commercially available scientific instrument or integrated system. Eligible instruments include microscopes, mass spectrometers, biomedical imagers, and other advanced research tools. Awards range from $50,000 to $750,000. Foreign entities and clinical trials are excluded.
Eligible applicants include NIH-supported investigator groups from public and private institutions of higher education, nonprofits with or without 501(c)(3) status, and certain minority-serving institutions. Foreign organizations and foreign components of U.S. organizations are not eligible.
