This funding opportunity supports investigator-initiated early phase clinical trials of natural products such as botanicals, probiotics, and dietary supplements with strong scientific justification. It provides up to three years of milestone-driven R61 phase support for testing pharmacokinetics, bioavailability, and mechanism of action, with potential additional R33 phase funding to replicate and optimize target engagement and assess clinical outcomes.
Eligible applicants include nonprofits, small businesses, government entities, institutions of higher education, tribal governments, and other specified organizations. Non-domestic entities and non-domestic components of U.S. organizations are not eligible.
