This program supports joint U.S. and LMIC institutional applications to develop collaborative training programs focused on infectious diseases affecting LMICs. It funds research training in basic, epidemiology, clinical, behavioral, and social science health research, including clinical trial leadership or participation. Programs must include didactic, mentored research, and career development components to prepare trainees for impactful careers addressing priority health needs in LMICs.
Eligible applicants include U.S. and LMIC institutions such as nonprofits, government entities, educational institutions, small businesses, tribal governments, and certain minority-serving institutions. Foreign institutions are eligible, but non-domestic components of U.S. organizations are not.
