This award supports intensive mentored career development in biomedical, behavioral, or clinical sciences for 3-5 years, aiming to achieve research independence. It excludes leading independent clinical trials but permits participation in mentor-led trials. Suitable for researchers training in new fields or returning from career breaks.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as nonprofits, governments, educational institutions, tribal organizations, and small businesses. Foreign organizations are not eligible to apply, but foreign components of U.S. organizations are allowed.
