This funding opportunity encourages development of next-generation brain stimulation devices for mental health applications. It supports novel devices that go beyond existing electrical or magnetic stimulation, offering increased spatiotemporal precision and multi-focal, closed-loop capabilities. It also funds significant hardware or software enhancements to FDA-approved devices to improve spatial resolution, depth, and precision. Incremental updates and clinical trials are excluded.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of entities such as city, county, state, and tribal governments, nonprofits (both 501(c)(3) and others), small businesses, for-profit organizations, educational institutions, and various federally recognized and community-based organizations.
