This funding supports early stage clinical trials of pharmacologic or neuromodulatory device-based interventions targeting mental disorders. Projects must employ an experimental therapeutics approach that evaluates both clinical effects and underlying mechanisms, using protocol designs that test the presumed mechanism of action and demonstrate dose-dependent neurophysiological, clinical, or behavioral effects.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as tribal governments, nonprofits, institutions of higher education, small businesses, government entities, and various minority-serving institutions. Both domestic and certain non-domestic entities may apply.
