This funding opportunity supports early-stage, high-risk research on the biology of risk factors for complex brain disorders. It focuses on intracellular, transcellular, and circuit substrates of neural function using in vivo, in situ, or in vitro models. Studies may be hypothesis-generating or testing and should aim to elucidate neurobiological impacts of risk factors without modeling disorders or conducting clinical trials. Data sharing to enrich common resources is encouraged.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as academic institutions, nonprofits, tribal governments, small businesses, government entities, and others including Native American and minority-serving institutions, as well as foreign organizations.
