The program funds fundamental research on Earth's evolving structure and geohazards, supporting laboratory, field, theoretical, and computational studies. It covers disciplines such as structural geology, tectonics, and geophysics to improve understanding of natural hazards and Earth's formation.
Eligible applicants include U.S.-based non-profit, non-academic organizations associated with education or research, and accredited U.S. institutions of higher education acting for their faculty. Special provisions apply for international branch campuses of U.S. institutions.
