This program funds research investigating the complex interactions among hydrologic, geomorphic, and geochemical processes in Earth's near-surface environment. Studies should advance understanding of soil development, water quality, and climate regulation, contributing to natural resource sustainability and hazard mitigation. The goal is to enable transformational discoveries in Earth surface processes.
Proposals may be submitted by US-based non-profit, non-academic organizations associated with research or education, and US institutions of higher education acting for their faculty. International branch campuses require justification.
