The Maximizing Investigators' Research Award (MIRA) provides individual investigators with a single grant to increase funding stability and flexibility within the NIGMS mission. It supports ambitious scientific projects, reduces administrative burdens, and encourages mentoring. Applications are invited from eligible NIGMS-funded investigators and new investigators aligned with NIGMS research. Renewals are allowed for current MIRA grantees, excluding Early-Stage Investigators who must apply separately.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of U.S. organizations such as public housing authorities, tribal organizations, nonprofits, educational institutions, governments, and small businesses.
