This fellowship supports predoctoral students in NIH-funded dual-doctoral degree programs (e.g., MD/PhD) to enhance integrated research and clinical training. Candidates propose dissertation research in health-related scientific fields relevant to NIH missions. Research leading independent clinical trials is excluded, but participation in sponsor-led trials is permitted. The award aims to develop productive, independent physician/clinician-scientists.
Eligible applicants are predoctoral dual-degree students at institutions with NIH-funded training programs. Eligible institutions include public, private, nonprofit, and for-profit organizations as specified. Candidates must be matriculated in combined MD/PhD or other dual-doctoral degree programs.
