This fellowship supports predoctoral students in NIH-funded dual-doctoral degree programs (e.g., MD/PhD) by funding integrated research and clinical training plans and dissertation projects in scientific health-related fields. It excludes leading independent clinical trials but allows participation in sponsor-led trials. The award aims to develop productive, independent physician/clinician-scientists.
Eligible applicants include U.S.-based nonprofits, for-profits (excluding small businesses), private and public institutions of higher education, and federal agencies.
