This fellowship supports promising predoctoral students to obtain individualized, mentored research training from outstanding faculty sponsors while conducting dissertation research in scientific health-related fields relevant to NIH missions. Candidates may not lead independent clinical trials but can participate in trials led by sponsors or co-sponsors. The award aims to enhance the candidate's potential to become an independent research scientist.
Eligible applicants include private and public higher education institutions, small businesses, nonprofits, for-profit organizations, federal agencies, and foreign entities. Candidates must be predoctoral students conducting dissertation research.
