This fellowship supports experienced scientists who want to make major changes in their research careers or broaden their scientific background by acquiring new research capabilities. Funded activities include individual research training in fields relevant to the missions of NIH Institutes and Centers, enabling candidates to become independent investigators.
Eligible applicants include private and public institutions of higher education, small businesses, nonprofits, for-profit organizations, federal agencies, and foreign organizations. Eligibility extends broadly across institution types.
