The SuRE-First Award supports full-time faculty at resource-limited US higher education institutions who have not received prior independent external grants. It funds investigator-initiated biomedical research in basic, social, clinical, behavioral, or translational science, excluding clinical trials. The award also promotes high-quality undergraduate and graduate student research experiences and strengthens institutional scientific research culture.
Eligible applicants are private, public, and state-controlled US higher education institutions. Faculty must be full-time and have no prior independent, peer-reviewed, external research grants.
