This program supports fundamental research applying chemical, biological, and physical principles to prevent pollution, mitigate ecological and human-health impacts, and remediate polluted environments. Key topics include waste minimization, sustainable water supply, contaminant fate and transport, and engineering of the built environment. Proposals must demonstrate novelty and transformative potential and comply with NSF guidelines. CAREER, RAPID, EAGER, and GOALI proposals are encouraged with prior consultation.
