This award supports established investigators to enhance or redirect their research programs by acquiring new research skills. Funded projects must focus on hearing, balance, smell, taste, voice, speech, and language sciences and involve independent basic experimental studies with humans. The program aims to enable investigators to address novel questions in these sensory and communication fields.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of U.S.-based organizations such as nonprofits, public housing authorities, tribal governments, state and local governments, institutions of higher education, small businesses, and for-profit organizations other than small businesses.
