Supports fundamental research on atomic- and molecular-scale interfacial phenomena and engineering of interfacial properties, processes, and materials. Research should translate to advances in industrial chemical or biochemical processes. Topics include chemical and biological separations, interfacial kinetics and thermodynamics, and nanoconfinement. Collaborative and interdisciplinary proposals combining experiment with theory or modeling are encouraged. Proposals should demonstrate novelty and potential transformative impact.
Eligibility is unrestricted, open to any type of entity. Applicants should consult program directors for clarifications and ensure compliance with proposal guidelines.
