Supports engineering research promoting sustainable engineered systems that support human well-being and ecological services. Funded topics include circular bioeconomy, industrial ecology, green engineering, ecological engineering, and earth systems engineering. Proposals should involve graduate and undergraduate students and address the novelty and transformative potential of the work. Interdisciplinary approaches incorporating social sciences are welcomed.
Open to all types of organizations without restrictions. Proposals involving research outside the US must explain potential benefits to the US. Contact program director for proposals outside core areas or larger budgets.
