The NHLBI Emerging Investigator Award supports experienced investigators with multiple NHLBI R01-equivalent awards to conduct innovative research programs in heart, lung, blood, and sleep (HLBS) areas. It provides up to seven years of funding, allowing greater freedom to pursue high-risk, long-term research projects within NHLBI's mission. Clinical trials are optional under this award, which aims to promote scientific productivity and innovation.
Eligible applicants include experienced PDs/PIs currently holding at least two NHLBI R01-equivalent awards. Eligible organizations include nonprofits, educational institutions, tribal governments, small businesses, and various government entities within the United States.
