The NIH Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) supports outstanding postdoctoral researchers holding research or clinical doctorates to transition to independent, tenure-track or equivalent faculty positions. The program provides NIH research funding during this transition and requires an independent clinical trial. Eligible applicants include a broad range of organizations, excluding non-domestic entities, with foreign components allowed.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as nonprofits, institutions of higher education, government entities, small businesses, and tribal organizations. Non-domestic (non-U.S.) entities are not eligible to apply, but foreign components of U.S. organizations are allowed.
