The NHLBI Career Transition Award (K22) supports postdoctoral fellows in NHLBI intramural research to transition their research programs to extramural institutions. It funds a mentored intramural phase (up to 2 years) and an extramural independent phase (3 years), totaling 5 years. Transition approval depends on successful progress review and evaluation of the extramural research plan. Clinical trials are required under this award.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of U.S. nonprofit, for-profit, government, tribal, and educational institutions. Foreign organizations and foreign components of U.S. organizations are not eligible. Non-domestic entities are excluded.
