This funding supports discovery research focused on identifying small molecules that serve as chemical probes or therapeutic agents. Activities include assay development for disease-relevant targets, high-throughput and phenotypic screening, hit validation using orthogonal assays and cheminformatics, and hit-to-lead optimization involving SAR, ADME, PK/PD studies, and in vivo efficacy modeling.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as state and local governments, for-profit and nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher education, tribal organizations, and various federally recognized and non-recognized entities including foreign organizations.
