This initiative supports early-stage translational research to develop and test medical device prototypes, identify diagnostic disease targets, and develop associated assays and research tools for HLBS diseases. It provides phased funding to advance projects from initial prototype design and testing to product refinement and data integration, enabling progression toward in vivo testing and further development.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as nonprofits, for-profits, small businesses, tribal organizations, government entities, and educational institutions. Foreign organizations are not eligible to apply, but foreign components of U.S. organizations are allowed.
