This funding supports translational efforts to develop safe, effective, and non-addictive pain therapeutics. It focuses on developing assays for a distinct testing funnel, screening to identify hits, and initial characterization of potential therapeutic agents including small molecules, biologics, and natural products. Clinical trials are not allowed under this opportunity.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of U.S. entities such as governments, nonprofits, for-profits, tribal organizations, educational institutions, and small businesses. Non-U.S. entities and non-domestic components of U.S. organizations are not eligible.
