It funds rigorously designed studies using relevant animal models or human subjects to identify and address barriers in precision probiotic therapies, aiming to improve clinical outcomes by accounting for human heterogeneity.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as tribal governments, nonprofits, private higher education institutions, small businesses, government entities, and others. Foreign organizations are not eligible to apply, but foreign components of U.S. organizations are allowed.
