This funding opportunity advances innovative translational research to understand the emergence and worsening of mood and psychosis disorders during the menopause transition. It supports studies on neurobiological and behavioral mechanisms, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of novel treatment interventions for conditions such as perimenopausal depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Research should address symptoms in combination with menopause-related changes and psychosocial factors in midlife.
