Funded projects include secondary data analysis, small self-contained studies, methodology development, translational and outcomes research, and new technology development. The award aims to help investigators obtain preliminary data for subsequent R01 grant applications. Clinical trials are optional under this mechanism.
Open to a wide range of organizations including tribal governments, higher education institutions, small businesses, nonprofits, government entities, and various minority-serving institutions. Applicants must be early career rehabilitation scientists establishing independent research careers.
