This opportunity supports neuroscience investigators in advancing small molecule drug discovery and development projects targeting nervous system disorders. Funding covers activities conducted in applicants' laboratories, collaboration with NIH consultants, and augmentation with NIH contract research organizations specializing in medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, GMP chemical synthesis, and phase I clinical testing. Projects may enter at Discovery or Development stages, progressing to IND-enabling studies and optional phase I clinical trials.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of U.S. entities such as city, county, and state governments, private and public higher education institutions, nonprofits, tribal governments and organizations, small businesses, and for-profit organizations other than small businesses.
