This program supports translational activities and small clinical studies aimed at advancing therapeutic and diagnostic devices for disorders affecting the nervous or neuromuscular systems. Funded activities include clinical prototype implementation, safety and efficacy testing, design validation, obtaining IDE for significant risk studies, and conducting small clinical trials to gather critical device function data. The cooperative agreement involves NIH staff in project planning and progress monitoring.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of U.S.-based entities such as nonprofits, small businesses, tribal organizations, government entities, and educational institutions. Foreign organizations are not eligible to apply, though foreign components of U.S. organizations are allowed.
