This program funds the pre-clinical and early clinical development of novel small-molecule and biologic drugs targeting Alzheimer's disease. Supported activities include medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetics, ADMET, animal model efficacy, biomarker development, formulation, GMP synthesis, IND enabling studies, and initial Phase I clinical testing. It excludes basic research, biomarker discovery unrelated to drug targets, repurposed drugs, and stand-alone clinical trials.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as for-profit entities (excluding small businesses), higher education institutions, nonprofits, tribal organizations, government entities, and others.
