This program provides NIDDK K01, K08, K23, and K25 awardees the opportunity to apply for Small Grant (R03) support to conduct pilot studies, secondary data analyses, or develop research methodologies. It aims to enhance their research capabilities during the latter years of their K awards, supporting projects that can be completed quickly with limited resources and generate preliminary data for future larger grants.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of U.S. entities such as state and local governments, nonprofits, institutions of higher education, tribal organizations, small businesses, and others. Non-U.S. entities and foreign components are generally ineligible except as defined for foreign components
