Supports exploratory and developmental bioengineering research projects that demonstrate feasibility and potential utility of new capabilities or improvements in quality, speed, efficacy, operability, costs, and accessibility. Funded activities include innovative solutions addressing problems in basic biomedical, pre-clinical, clinical research, clinical care delivery, or accessibility. Clinical trials are optional within applications.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of U.S. organizations such as county and state governments, public and private institutions of higher education, nonprofits, small businesses, tribal governments and organizations, and other specified entities. Eligibility is limited to U.S.-based entities.
