This program supports R15-eligible principal investigators conducting rigorous basic and mechanistic pain research. It promotes integrated interdisciplinary partnerships between eligible PIs and other U.S. investigators, and enhances the pain research environment by actively involving health professional trainees and students in research projects.
Eligible applicants include public, state-controlled, and private institutions of higher education, including minority-serving institutions. Foreign organizations and non-domestic components of U.S. organizations are not eligible, but foreign components are allowed.
