Supports fundamental research on the origin and evolution of Earth's core, mantle, and crust through diverse studies including laboratory, field, experimental, theoretical, and computational approaches. Topics include high-temperature igneous and metamorphic processes, volcanology, magmatic activity, ore deposits, economic geology, and geochronology. Research aims to improve understanding of volcanic hazards and mineral resource distribution.
Eligible applicants include US-based non-profit, non-academic organizations associated with education or research, and accredited US institutions of higher education acting for their faculty. International branch campuses require justification for involvement.
