This funding opportunity supports research advancing discovery, preclinical development, and proof of concept testing of new candidate agents and neurostimulation approaches for mental disorders, substance use disorders, and alcohol use disorder. It also funds development of novel ligands and circuit-engagement devices to characterize or validate drug/device targets. Projects should be investigator-driven, discrete, and focused, with strong encouragement for academia-industry partnerships.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as small businesses, nonprofits, academic institutions, tribal governments, and various government entities. Foreign organizations are not eligible to apply, but foreign components of U.S. organizations are allowed.
