Supports research to understand why organisms are structured and function as they do, across scales from molecules to ecosystems. Proposals in developmental biology, nervous system evolution, biomechanics, physiology, symbioses, genomics, and behavior are welcomed. Collaborative, integrative approaches using experimental, modeling, and computational methods to generate novel biological insights are encouraged.
Proposals may be submitted by US-based non-profit, non-academic organizations associated with research or education, and US institutions of higher education acting for their faculty. International branch campuses require justification.
