Supports projects investigating beneficial and antagonistic interactions between plants and their viral, bacterial, oomycete, fungal, plant, and invertebrate symbionts, pathogens, and pests. Research spans fundamental mechanisms to translational applications in agriculture, emphasizing molecular, genomic, metabolic, cellular, and organismal processes. Quantitative modeling combined with experimental approaches is encouraged. Eligible projects include hypothesis-driven or discovery-driven studies on plant-associated microbiomes and complex biotic interactions.
Eligible applicants include U.S.-based non-profit research organizations, institutions of higher education, state agricultural experiment stations, federal agencies, national laboratories, private organizations, and U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Foreign and international organizations are no
