The HBCU Excellence in Research program funds research projects at Historically Black Colleges and Universities to build sustainable research and development capacity. It supports projects aligned with NSF's research programs and aims to foster stronger connections between HBCU researchers and NSF.
Only accredited Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with faculty conducting research in science, engineering, or STEM education may submit proposals. The Principal Investigator must be a full-time faculty member or researcher at the submitting HBCU.
