This grant supports early stage investigators conducting innovative basic experimental studies involving human participants. Projects must represent a change in research direction, include no preliminary data, and focus on fundamental biomedical or behavioral phenomena. Applications require a separate attachment describing the change in direction and must align with NIH Institutes and Centers' scientific missions.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as public and private institutions of higher education, nonprofits, for-profits, small businesses, government entities, and Native American tribal organizations. Early stage investigators are targeted.
