The FAA Aviation Research Grants Program funds innovative, advanced research to support the long-term growth of civil aviation and commercial space transportation. It encourages basic and applied research in scientific and engineering fields including air traffic control technology, communications, navigation, surveillance, aviation weather, airports, aircraft safety, human factors, and systems science. Proposals from colleges, universities, and nonprofit research institutions are encouraged to address emerging technologies and enhance technology transfer within the FAA.
Eligible applicants include private and public institutions of higher education and nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status. Eligibility depends on the nature of the organization and research proposed.
