This grant supports early and conceptual stages of exploratory and developmental research projects in biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research. It funds studies that may involve considerable risk but have the potential to lead to breakthroughs or the development of novel techniques, agents, methodologies, models, or applications with major impact. Clinical trials are not allowed under this funding opportunity.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of institutions such as public and private higher education institutions, tribal governments, nonprofits, small businesses, government entities, and various minority-serving institutions.
