The START Program funds investigators entering high-priority substance use research areas, including HIV comorbidity. It supports gathering preliminary data to help secure future research funding and advance scientific careers. Clinical trials are optional under this program.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as county and state governments, small businesses, higher education institutions, nonprofits, tribal governments, and foreign organizations. Both domestic and foreign entities may apply.
