This funding opportunity supports exploratory R33 research projects aimed at advancing and technically validating emerging technologies that improve molecular or cellular cancer characterization and biospecimen handling. Projects must build on preliminary data and focus on cancer-relevant applications to accelerate research in cancer biology, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, control, and epidemiology. Clinical trials are not allowed under this mechanism.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as academic institutions, nonprofits, small businesses, tribal governments, and for-profit organizations. Foreign organizations and international collaborations are also eligible.
