Supports projects aimed at developing or refining archaeometric techniques relevant to anthropology, such as organic residue identification and field analytic methods. Also funds laboratories offering dating, trace element, isotopic, and dendrochronological analyses, as well as data archives that strengthen archaeological infrastructure. Proposals are reviewed by experts combining archaeological and archaeometric knowledge.
Eligible applicants are researchers with a Ph.D. or equivalent experience capable of independent basic research. Undergraduate and graduate students may participate but cannot serve as PI, co-PI, or senior personnel.
