This program funds community-based projects that ensure the vitality of Native American languages through immersion-based instruction. Funded programs must operate as Language Nests serving young children or Survival Schools serving school-age students, providing at least 500 hours of instruction annually. Eligible applicants include Native American tribes, tribal organizations, nonprofits, Alaska Native entities, Native Hawaiian agencies, and tribal colleges.
