IGNIITE 2026 funds early-career researchers to develop disruptive and unconventional ideas into transformative energy technologies. The program supports applied research and development projects with high risk and high impact potential, including exploratory and proof-of-concept work. Awardees engage with ARPA-E and stakeholders through events and mentorship to accelerate technology translation and market disruption.
Eligible applicants include U.S.-based public and private institutions of higher education, nonprofits, for-profit organizations including small businesses, DOE/NNSA FFRDCs/DOE Labs, and others as specified. Applicants must apply as standalone entities and meet early-career researcher criteria.
